I really wanted to draw all weekend, but I was a little preoccupied with setting up my first website! Stay tuned for that people, I'll let you know when it's ready to be unveiled. Here's a drawing I did of Skuffz from our San Diego trip. Hanging out at Balboa Park and eating mango in the shade. What did we do after this? We got soft serve. Yeah. That's right.

Holy Diver
Amber hangs out with a cold one while Zardoz amuses the rest of us. Check out her blog JUNGLEMUX to see an amazing tribute to Dio. Maybe we should start an internet petition to get her to start the blog up again. Just sayin'.

"Meet me by the statue of the man on a horse..."
I met Hanna in Vienna, Austria two years ago through the magic of couchsurfing.com. After maneuvering through a confusing meet-up point set by me (turns out there are dozens of horse statues in Vienna), Hanna took my friends and I around the city and showed us around. I saw a photograph of her on a certain social networking site that will go unnamed, and thought it was good enough to draw. It reminded me of Egon Schielle meets David Bowie. Unfortunately I can't find the name of the original photographer, but perhaps Hanna will see this and enlighten all of us. My favorite part is the limited color palette and how they work together.

You're a doll (Kachina)
Stephanie found an amazing book about Native American culture during a trip to Silverton last month. This drawing is based off a photograph in the book of a Native American dressed as a Kachina Doll, and it really doesn't do it justice. I think my brush pens just aren't as stunning on colored construction paper.

Ari in Repose
Our friend Ari has been in town the last few days and I got a chance to sketch this out while he lounged out on the couch. If you haven't already checked out his blog Advanced Style you should probably go and do that right now. Ari photographs fashionable elderly people that he meets on the street in New York city (and more recently in London) and blogs about their unique styles. They are truly inspirational.

Museum Antics
While in San Diego we stopped into the Natural History Museum at Balboa Park to poke around the gift store and to our surprise we stumbled upon a giant animatronic T-Rex! The museum was kind enough to supply tables, paper, and crayons to draw the T-Rex and I'm not one to pass up that kind of opportunity. Here's the finished drawing and an embarrassing picture of myself showing off my work in the gift shop.

Still Sunny in PDX
Finally back in Portland after a busy busy week in San Diego. Looks like the garden survived, and some of our tomatoes finally got ripe. It also means I'm back to posting on the blog! Here's another drawing from the last figure drawing session at PNCA. I didn't think this pose was all that interesting, but I'm actually really happy with the way it turned out, especially the feet.
