I'm really enjoying this series of old timey portraits with insects. I wonder how far I can take it. My brother says these two look like a duo of sorts. I invite anyone who is willing to make up names and a backstory for these two. Best one wins. You can submit via comment or by emailing to dailysketch17@gmail.com

Turtle Power
"Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Heroes in a halfshell, turtle power
They're the world's most fearsome fighting teens..
(we're really hip)
They're heroes in a halfshell and they're green..
(hey! get a grip)
When the evil shredder attacks, these turtle boys don't cut him no slack
Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Teenage mutant ninja turtles
Splinter taught them to be ninja teens
(he's a radical rat)
Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines
(that's a fact, Jack)
Raphael is cool but rude
(give me a break)
Michelangelo is a party dude
(Partyyyyyyyyy!)
Teenage mutant ninja turtles

Heroes in a halfshell, turtle power"
Stephanie gave me this awesome Ninja Turtles button and I did a drawing of it. Give me a break.

O' Captain, My Captain
While researching online for a reference photo of a pipe I stumbled upon this little gem and saved it to draw later. I don't know who this guy is, or how is beard got so bushy, or why he's comically shifty eyed, but dear god I'm thankful for all those things. When I'm old I'm going to dress like a Sea Captain all the time.

Postal fiasco
Here's a little drawing I sent to two expecting friends of mine in San Diego, but it never arrived. I'm guessing the Postal Service destroys all stork related mail because they don't want to propagate the idea that anyone else does home deliveries besides them.
"Animals delivering babies! Absurd!" - Post Master General
Good thing I got a scan of it before I sent it off. You've won this time, post office .... for now.

Blog Promo drawing #2: Danno
Well this kind of came out a lot scarier than I had planned, but overall I'm pleased with it. I decided not to do a preliminary sketch for this one and just go with whatever lines the pen made on the paper. I think my favorite thing about it is it doesn't look like the things I normally draw. I once met an excellent chef who told me that he hated eating his own food. It's kind of like that for artists, too.
