Hello from San Diego! I've been enjoying the heat and desert terrain too much to draw something yet, but here's one from the last figure drawing session that I never got around to posting. This model had a really expressive face that was begging to be drawn.

New Glasses
One thing you gotta know if you're my buddy is that you'll probably be drawn a few times and posted on my blog. Here's my buddy Ben again. He also sometimes draws comics which are pretty funny. You can see them here.
I'm off to San Diego today so tomorrow's post will be all the way from Sunny Southern California. Possibly even posted from a hammock.

Vintage Tree
We hosted a diorama making night a few weeks ago and I based the center piece of mine on an old photograph my Mom took in the 70s. Here's a preliminary sketch I made to see how it might look in brush pens. (I ended up using colored pencil)

Scheme Mouse
Here's a little guy that I drew the other day while experimenting with my new brush pens. I'm not exactly sure what kind of rodent he is, but he seems to be hatching some sort of scheme.

Beautiful Beast
I've been dusting off a few of my older drawings these days, and getting them ready to have prints made and sold. Thus I've also been trying to think of a professional name to sell my art under. "Beautiful Beast" is one of the top contenders right now. What do you think??
Interesting fact: I drew the left half of this sometime last year and finally got around to finishing it up the other day. You can barely tell!

Have One On Me
After years of listening to Joanna Newsom I finally got a chance to see her live at the Aladdin theater a few nights ago. We made sure to get there early so we could get these fantastic seats, five rows back, front and center. The show was simply amazing. Mostly tracks off the new album were played (heavily favored from disc 1), but we did get two from Ys, and three from The Milk Eyed Mender including an amazing full band performance of Peach, Plum, Pear. I forgot what it's like to see musicians who are crazy skilled at what they do. This is a drawing of the stage before the show. I'm getting a bit more confident with my new brush pens.
Also, SEPIA ATTACK! OOOoooooooooooo.
