Backside

I think this may have been a five minute pose. I actually find this style of drawing a bit tedious. With digital photography at our fingertips, who cares if you can draw something realistically anymore? The trick is to bring something out of reality that can never exist in it.

Figure Drawing

After a long absence I finally made it back to PNCA for another Wednesday night figure drawing session. And it's just in the nick of time too because next week will be the last one of the summer. I'm posting these in the order I did them so they should get better in the next few days as I got more warmed up and the poses got longer.

I like to go into a figure drawing session with some sort of goal in mind such as focusing on shading, realism, experimenting with different mediums, etc. This time my goal was to not stress out about making a finished piece but to just have fun drawing and see where it took me. It's really easy to feel like you're in competition with the other artists in the room to make the best drawing, but I think it's best to try to suppress those feelings. Does anybody else get that way? Maybe it's just me.

Jokes (inside)

I normally don't post my postcards on here until I'm positive the person has received it, but eh, what the hell?

This reflects an inside joke that happened while I was traveling in Europe two years ago. The drawing has nothing to do with anything.
