Washed out

Another one from last weeks figure drawing session. Working on being loose and focusing on shading and color rather than line. Also experimenting with a travel watercolor set that I recently got which turned out to be .. quite shitty.

Beastmaster

This is my friend Ijah riding a Grizzly Bear. True story.

On a side note, this is my 93rd post of 2010. One more post than the entirety of 2009! Hopefully I can keep up this pace of productivity for the rest of the year (and surpass it the next).

More Naked People

Last Wednesday was the last figure drawing session for the summer at PNCA. I took it as an opportunity to try out my new gray scale brush pens. It's a whole new world of sketching now.

Wolf Dad

"An explanation is probably long overdue."

The father from Teen Wolf in one of my favorite scenes. Just watched this movie last night and it's still just as good as when I was a kid.

Of Watercolors and Blueberries

I hope you guys aren't too bored with these yet, because this is my last and favorite drawing from last Wednesday's figure drawing session. I really like how the the watercolor works with with pen in this one. I'm going to have to do more pieces in the future using that combination and see how far I can take it. Tomorrow we'll move on to some different yet familiar territory.

In unrelated but totally awesome news, I was informed today that I won a flat of blueberries from a local grocery store for having the closest guess in a "guess how many berries are in the jar" contest. My guess: 212. Actual count: 210. I can't believe I was only 2 off! Time to start looking up blueberry recipes.

Monday Drawing

Finally starting to get to the good ones. I had no plans for this drawing but it kind of ended up looking like a 3-Dimensional cartoon character. It's a bit weird, but I like it.

In Sharpie

And yet another nude from last Wednesdays figure drawing session. I like how the heavy shadows turned out in this one.

Backside

I think this may have been a five minute pose. I actually find this style of drawing a bit tedious. With digital photography at our fingertips, who cares if you can draw something realistically anymore? The trick is to bring something out of reality that can never exist in it.
